2022 eTron GT

This is our first Audi EV, we’ve been researching about this beautiful car with all the problems and why the resale value has been dropping so much, we decided to get it for my son since we can’t afford the R8. We’ve been looking at the 2022 and 2023, the prices difference is about $4000-$5000, same mileage and options.

The myth: “2023-2024 are more reliable than 2022”, this is not true since the hardware are identical, power train and battery.

We could’ve gotten the 2023 for $4k more but the color of the 2022 Daytona Gray won the 2023 Black at the time of purchase, especially in the Bay area there weren’t many choices.

Options are important to us: The options on etron GT are terrible, premium plus and prestige, but prestige doesn’t necessarily have the options like full leather package or performance package or executive package (2022 it’s called driver assistant package). Premium plus doesn’t include these packages either.

Check the car VIN with all recalls, make sure they’re updated all the software and done with all the recalls before buying. Most of the problems before with etron GT is the software. , .

All Audi etron GT wheels are staggered, which means the fronts are smaller than the rears so it’s quite expensive to replace the tires, make sure the tires are new or budget them into the price.

Getting the extended warranty from Audi platinum is a must for the length of the car you’re planning to own. In our case, it’s 5 years and 75k miles on top of what it has currently. This warranty can be negotiated, we had to pay $6k for $100 deductible 31k +75k = 106k miles and 2026 + 5 = 2031.

So, by getting this 2022, we didn’t have the rear heated seats, the B&O sound system (standard in 2023) and the interior LED lighting since they didn’t have the executive but we have 2 ports for AC charging.

Carfax: We did check carfax to make sure it’s one owner, sometimes we can see if 2 owners and the second owner only owned it for a short time, it could mean the car has more problems than it’s supposed to.

The Deal: The deal is not just the good price but also the good financing, we got 4.5% on the used car which is great for us at this time.

The dealers: We checked out cars with 4 different Audi dealers, they’re all very professional, Audi of San Jose, Audi of Fremont, VW of Oakland and finally we got the car from Audi of Livermore, our salesperson was Adil and he’s extremely patient and knowledgeable about the car and we liked the fact that this used car has 2 keys, if you know Audi, the key’s replacement is very expensive. We also got all weather mats, Tesla charger adaptor and all the 240V Audi charger for home.

Buying used cars is totally on luck, find the right color, the right options at the right dealer. We’re happy that we found this car for my son and wife to drive. All cars depreciate, just make sure we make enough money not to worry about it.
